MANILA, Philippines—With eyes closed, flood survivor Enrico San Juan clutched at the feet of a statue of the crucified Christ, his forehead firmly pressed on its knees. After about a minute of silent prayer at a Roman Catholic church in Manila, San Juan, 45, kissed the statue’s feet and made the sign of the cross. ‘God is my family’s only hope,’ the odd-job laborer told Agence France-Presse. He had saved enough money to commute from his flooded home in the devastated Taguig across town to the popular Baclaran Church for Sunday Mass. ‘We lost everything and my house is still partially under water, but I’m still thankful to God that my family is…

Haiti (MNN) — Tropical storm activity stirring in the Caribbean hit Haiti hard this week. On Monday, unusually strong storms struck the north side of the island. Eva DeHart with For Haiti With Love details the damages: “Our clinic got a direct hit by lightning. All of the light bulbs exploded in the clinic. Our inverter took a hit, and I don’t know whether it’s going to be reparable or not. The computer power source is gone–it’s going to have to be replaced. The printer took a hit–it took out our satellite internet. There was a tremendous amount of rain with this storm, so there was flooding down the street and into the area where we’re storing the beans.” It has been a summer filled with challenges which threaten to disrupt For Haiti’s evangelistic outreach through their food program and burn clinic. Pray that God will provide the funding and other resources needed to continue the work He has begun through For Haiti With Love.

(AP) – MONEE, Ill. – On their fifth wedding anniversary, Roger and Carey Basick of Monee took a trip to Ireland that would change their destiny. Strolling through the cobblestone streets of Dublin, stories of Ireland and its people flooded Carey’s mind as she remembered her great grandmother’s tales of the country. The Basicks spent 11 days traveling the country and visiting various cities. What they did not find in Ireland was their own sort of inspirational music, no worship songs of Darlene Zschech or Michael…
